The Fairmount Chamber Ensemble was formed in 1994 in answer to requests for a larger ensemble to accompany choirs. Since then the FCE has performed with the choirs of the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Doylestown Presbyterian Church, Grace Presbyterian Church, Upper Dublin Lutheran Church, St. Davids' Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church of Germantown to name a few. They have also accompanied the Greater South Jersey Chorus, the Choristers of Upper Dublin, the choirs of Drexel University, Valley Forge Christian College and Germantown Friends School among others.
In February of 2010 the members of the Fairmount Chamber Ensemble donated their services along with several other performing groups in a benefit concert, organized by FCE member Beth Dzwil, that raised over $9000 to purchase artificial limbs for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.
Choral works performed have included major works such as Handel's "Messiah" and "Dixit Dominus", Faure's "Requiem", Mendelssohn's "Elijah", the Mozart "Requiem" and the Beethoven "Missa Solemnis", as well as Bach Cantatas, works by John Rutter and choral anthems. The Fairmount Chamber Ensemble's performances have also included orchestral works by composers such as Bach, Barber, Faure, Mozart and Beethoven.
